'I CAN COOK'

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

EASY PEASY PIZZA

I chose to create a storyboard style for my double page spread, I thought this would be the easiest way for a child to effectively follow instructions. I decided to split the 'you will need section' to the left page so it didn't interfere with the the recipe instructions and it is also the first page you read, so you can check you have all the ingredients before you start cooking. I also incorporated some questions in the 'You will need' section for example 'Do  you know where cheese comes from?' and then there are three different images at the bottom which is a cow, a plant and a goat and it asks the children to match the correct answer to the question.

I chose a pale yellow and a deep red for the colour scheme as I thought this resembled the colours of a pizza and I also thought they were good contrasting colours as the dark red shows up well against the yellow. I have tried to balance the amount of type and imager by having the illustrations that are associated with the step by step instructions and also the ingredients. I think the font that I have used is quite fun and would appeal to a child. The double page spread obviously works by having the ingredients on the left page and then the step by step instructions on the right hand page.
